STELLAR SEASON FOR STABLE

Nathan and the team at Doyle Racing enjoyed one of their most successful seasons in the recently completed 2025-26 season, landing fifty-six winners (56) winners Australia-wide. The tally included fifty-five wins in NSW, with Silvanito adding a Queensland victory to make up the impressive number. The tally in NSW seen Doyle Racing finish eighteenth on the NSW trainer’s premiership, an impressive feat from a stable which only has forty-eight horses in work at any one time.

In addition to the winner’s trained, the stable also saddled up sixty-one (61) runners-up, and forty-six (46) third placegetters – the winners coming at an impressive strike rate of one every 6.11 runners. The tally of fifty-six wins was one short of Nathan’s previous season best (57) which he has achieved on two occasions. In achieving this, the stable amassed $3,307,850 in prizemoney throughout the season from 343 starters.

“Overall it was a very successful season, and none of it would have been possible without the support of our loyal owners. It is an honour to be training for each of them, and to reward their loyalty with success makes all the hard work that goes in to it worthwhile” said Nathan when reflecting on the passed twelve months. There were many highlights, so to single one out I feel would be unfair, however enjoying Black type success with a number of horses was extremely gratifying”.

“I must also give a lot of credit to what is a hard-working, dedicated team who care for these horses. It is a very tough job, and we set ourselves extremely high standards” Nathan added. “They work extremely long hours in at times very testing conditions, so the success of the stable is just reward for all that work”.

STABLE LANDS PRESTIGIOUS MAX LEES MEDAL

Nathan Doyle has secured the prestigious Max Lees Medal in the recently completed 2025-26 season, awarded to the trainer with the best winning strike-rate at Newcastle Racecourse throughout the year (with a minimum of forty starters). Over the course of the season, Doyle saddled up forty-seven (47) runners on his home track for eleven (11) winners, at an impressive strike rate of 4.27.

“It is a huge thrill, and an honour to win this award. Rightly, Max Lees is held in the highest regard in Australian racing, so to win an award named in his honour is truly humbling. Once again, this award reflects the hard work of all our team – and it is a massive achievement for the stable” said Nathan when asked.

Stable apprentice Shannen Llewellyn, who on August 17 will go on three months loan to Ciaron Maher was also rewarded for her successful season by the Newcastle Jockey Club, winning the Rising Star Award. The 2025-26 season seen Shannen land eight (8) winners on her home track, and sixty-one (61) throughout New South Wales.

NEW SEASON STARTS WITH HEROICS

The Doyle stable has hit the ground running in the 2026-27 racing season, landing four (4) winners and three (3) minor placegetters – from ten (10) starters in the first week. On the opening day of the season, Heroic Deed and Lady Of The Castle secured a double on Doyle’s home track, with Funshow scoring at Rosehill. Six days later, Count Du Money added to the tally when breaking his maiden status at Gosford.

Heroic Deed was dominant at his first start back from a spell when scoring by 2.75 lengths. Under the riding of Jean van Overmeire the gelding was never out of second gear when winning the Provincial Class 1 Plate (1200m). “Heroic Deed had trialled well, and it was a race which really suited him. He is a horse we have always liked, so to see him return in this fashion was very pleasing” said Nathan post-race. “He will now likely head to town, but on what we seen today he is in for a very good preparation”.

Lady Of The Castle opened her winning account at start six (her third when prepared by Doyle), when successful in a Midway Maiden Plate (1200m). Also ridden by van Overmeire, the mare was able to score by ½ length – taking her overall tally to one win and two minors from six starts. Lady Of The Castle was transferred to Doyle from Tom Charlton prior to this preparation.

Funshow made it three wins on the bounce when successful in a 3&4yo BM 72 1500m at Rosehill. Rated perfectly in front by Tim Clark, the son of Cosmic Force x Miss Marilyn was able to add to his recent wins at Newcastle and Hawkesbury. He has now built a very impressive record of three wins and four minor placings from only seven starts. “The fact he has never been out of the first three shows how consistent this horse is” commented Nathan following the win. “He was perfectly ridden by Tim, and with his style of racing there is no reason he can’t continue on his winning ways”.

Count Du Money rounded out the week for the stable when winning a Super Maiden Handicap (1100m). At only his second start, Count Du Money sat outside the lead in the small field before breaking clear to win by ½ length. “He still has a lot to learn, but I think the future is bright for him” stated Nathan. “He was narrowly beaten on debut at Scone, and he will now likely go for a short spell. When he returns he could develop into quite a nice horse” he added
