PRIVATE HARRY

PRIVATE HARRY

Private Harry gave Nathan Doyle his maiden Group 1 success when winning the 2025 The Galaxy at Rosehill Gardens on March 22. Ridden by regular rider Ash Morgan, Private Harry was able to defeat Front Page by 3/4 length, and in doing so stretch his unbeaten run to five. "He is just a very good horse as his record shows. He was coming off success in the Sunlight, but to take the step to Group 1 company so emphatically was mind-blowing" said Nathan following the win. Raced by Kurrinda Bloodstock, the son of Harry Angel x Happy Pilgrim is now expected to be offered a slot in the 2025 TAB Everest. "It is exciting times for all the owners and staff - and a truly amazing thrill" added Nathan.

CHURCHILL'S CHOICE

CHURCHILL'S CHOICE

Lightly raced mare Churchill's Choice has earned herself a spot in the 2026 Big Dance after scoring an emphatic victory in the Group 3 Hawkesbury Cup on May 2. It was the mare's fourth win in fifteen starts, and her first at Group level. Raced by Kevin Hill who bred her, Churchill's Choice was brilliantly ridden by Regan Bayliss in the 1600m event. "She is a mare who deserved a win like this" said Nathan post-race. "She has previously been placed twice at Group level (G2 Queensland Guineas and G3 Newcastle Stakes), so it was wonderful to see her get the monkey off her back. It will also be a great lift for Kevin who has been battling ill health of late".

HARLEM QUEEN

HARLEM QUEEN

Harlem Queen scored a long overdue and thoroughly deserved black type success when victorious in the Listed Ladies Day Cup (1500m) at Hawkesbury on November 8. Harlem Queen has competed at the highest level and had previously finished second behind Lady Shenandoah in the Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m), and third behind Lekvarte in the Group 2 Emancipation Stakes (1500m). "It was a well-deserved win for a mare who has for so long raced at the top level. We gave her a decent break after the Princess Stakes at Eagle Farm, and although finishing eleventh in the Silver Eagle at her previous start the run had plenty of merit" stated Nathan following the win. The success of Harlem Queen was also the first win at black-type level for apprentice jockey Ben Osmond.

HIDDEN MOTIVE

HIDDEN MOTIVE

Three-year-old colt Hidden Motive landed his first group success when scoring in the Group 2 Roman Consul Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill on October 11. Ridden by Ash Morgan, Hidden Motive made full use of barrier one when leading all the way. Regally bred (Capitalist x Secret Agenda), Hidden Motive made it win three from just eight starts in his brief career - with many wins left in store.

NORWEGIAN BLISS

NORWEGIAN BLISS

Norwegian Bliss made it seven straight wins to start her racing career when successful first-up over 1200m at Randwick on November 1. The five-year-old daughter of El Roca x Ballyalla, racing in the famous Gerry Harvey silks fought gamely under 59.5kg to extend her unbeaten run. Dylan Gibbons positioned Norwegian Bliss outside the speed before the mare knuckled down in the straight under her big impost to score by 1/2 length. Norwegian Bliss will now step up to black type level when she runs in the Group 3 Kevin Heffernan Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on November 26

RUSH HOUR

RUSH HOUR
Rush Hour landed connections an immediate return on their $130,000 investment at the 2022 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale with a thrilling win in Saturday’s inaugural $500,000 Magic Millions The Debut (900m) on the Gold Coast.

In the new race for two-year-olds staged exclusively for eligible Magic Millions first starters, the Nathan Doyle-trained Russian Revolution colt made the perfect start to his career, edging out Peter and Paul Snowden’s Capitalist colt Getty in a drive to the line.

The race was delayed by almost an hour while stewards and jockeys inspected the deteriorating Gold Coast track, which was downgraded to a Heavy 10 after the first race.

Newcastle trainer Nathan Doyle said the $300,000 payday was a dream result for a horse that connections had initially attempted to target at the $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

He said he wasn’t surprised with how well his colt handled the delay.

“It’s massive,” Doyle said.

“He’s shown us so much talent from day dot and my only worry was that after his second trial we thought he might be looking for 1100m or 1200m first-up.”

“I just had to leave him fresh because we didn’t want to train him off or send him down for the 900m trip.”

“It was a perfect ride by Koby and it’s good for the Calibre Racing boys, it’s the first ever yearling they’ve ever bought as a syndication group and they’ve won here today.”

“I was actually watching every horse melt out the back there and he was just asleep so that’s the way he took it in and I grew in confidence with the delay.”

“It’s what you dream of, you buy these yearlings to hopefully be back here in 12 months’ time – ideally it would’ve been in the bigger race (2YO Classic) but he just had a little setback and we had to back off him.”

For winning jockey Koby Jennings, the victory came courtesy of his only ride on the card and he believes the colt has plenty of upside.

“He’s a very nice colt, he’s very professional and he’s always been that way,” Jennings said.

“Setting him for a race like today was always going to suit just because of how professional he is and obviously he’s got the ability to go with it.”

“We do get the feel that he’ll want that little bit further in the not too distant future.”

Rush Hour was purchased by NSW-based syndicator Calibre Racing and Nathan Doyle for $130,000 out of the Newgate Farm draft at the 2022 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

PRIVATE HARRY

PRIVATE HARRY

Private Harry gave trainer Nathan Doyle the biggest win in his career to date when successful in the $3,000,000 TAB Magic Millions Sunlight 3yo Plate (Slot Race) (1100m) at the Sunshine Coast on January 4. Having only his fourth race start, Private Harry was able to defeat Golden Slipper winner Lady Of Camelot under the riding of Ash Morgan, who has been on board Private Harry at all of his race starts. "We knew he had plenty of ability, but to see him demolish a field like that is truly exciting - the sky is the limit for him" said Nathan after the win. "I think he has now earned a shot at the top level, and we may look at the group 1 The Galaxy for his next assignment". It was the first running of the Sunlight, and it attracted a top-class field of three-year old sprinters despite being transferred from the Gold Coast to the Sunshine Coast due to concerns with the Gold Coast track.
