WHY DOYLE “COULDN'T BE HAPPIER” WITH NORWEGIAN BLISS AHEAD OF CAULFIELD TEST
Thu, Nov 24, 2022

Newcastle-based trainer Nathan Doyle has provided an update on his unbeaten mare Norwegian Bliss.
The five-year-old travels to Melbourne for the first time this week and is set to run in the Group 3 Kevin Heffernan Stakes at Caulfield.
Speaking days out from the feature, Doyle stated that a strong barrier draw may help the mare make it eight from eight.
“She travelled down on Sunday in terrific order, she went up to Caulfield yesterday (Tuesday) morning and I couldn’t be happier with the way she went,” Doyle told Giddy Up with Gareth Hall.
“It was the perfect gallop so I cannot fault her and hopefully we draw a gate this morning.
“She always showed me that she had some form of ability from day dot, the team have done a terrific job and she continues to get better every time she steps out.
“She never wins by massive margins but she just knows where the line is and every time she seems to raise the bar so she deserves her chance this week.”
“James McDonald rode her and said we won’t get the best of her until we get her to a mile so the 1400 metres looks ideal second-up,” he said.
“She has won on every surface but I think on top of the ground she can show a good turn of foot and sometimes those wet tracks can take the turn of foot out of them.
“I think we are going to get a nice track on Saturday which gives us every opportunity.”
Norwegian Bliss will have to overcome some tough competition in two-time Group 1-winner Streets of Avalon and Ciaron Maher’s Amish Boy to keep the winning streak alive.
